| It has been a while since I have updated this thing...Mostly due to my sudden obsession with updating on Myspace...but I still need to update those of you who are still active in the Xanga world. Student teaching came and went and it was so much fun! I was really sad to leave but have since realized that it gave me the opportunity to explore other options in the teaching world. I have since been hired at Lynhurst Middle School in Wayne Township! I think it will be a perfect fit to my personality and the school is beautiful! It houses 1200 students and it is only a 7th and 8th grade center! I think I will be teaching 8th grade but I will find out in due time! I'm so anxious to get my classroom so I can go out and buy some stuff to decorate! I'm going to sign up to take some classes during the summer. It will suck because I won't be able to go to Colorado like I had planned but at least I will be prepared for my new year! Josh and I are back together since the last entry that I wrote was when we broke up. We prolly were broken up for close to 4 months and have since gotten back together and he has also moved to Indy. He also is living with me until his house is finished with it's remodel but I think he and I will have to move closer to my new job because I'm not digging a 20 minute drive daily....maybe a move to Avon would be a good choice! | | |
| One more week at Muncie Central. I can't believe seven weeks flew by so quickly, and in about 10 more weeks I will be back in Indy for good, teaching the middle schoolers of Mount Vernon. Yes! I finally got my placement! A great ending to slightly horrible week. As most of you know, since this kind of old news, Josh and I broke up. It was my decision because I have a lot of stuff going on in my life right now, and I just don't have the energy to be in a relationship right now. For once, I just need some time to be selfish. He's still taking it pretty hard, but luckily I have too much stuff to do to let that occupy my time. However with all good breakups comes great retail therapy, partying and loss of weight. See there are great sides to breaking up. I bought a digital camera from Target yesterday! It was a splurge purchase, and I have wanted one for so long. I think I'll take it out to the bars tonight with Lindsey and celebrate my entering the digital world by taking millions of photographs. Tomorrow, I'll be in Indy getting a new tattoo that I have been wanting for about two years now (so there was thought and consideration to this one). I also am going to visit a Miss Lindsay Strother who is scheduled to deliver her baby next week. I'm so excited about seeing her, and hopefully she won't go into labor until next weekend so I can come up and be one of the first to see the little miss Molly Shay. I still can't believe she is having a baby! It has got to be one of the scariest and probably best experiences she has been through. It has made me realize though that I don't plan to have children until I'm 30. I think that's a good age, if I do decide to have any. Ok, so I'm going to end this blog because I need to get back to some homework and it doesn't really make a lot of sense. Peace out punks! | | |
| The next couple of weeks are going to blow hard! I had to take my stupid Praxis 2 this weekend, which required me getting up before the sun, and my cup of Starbucks didn't really do much. However, the test is done and hopefully I will never have to take it again. Knowing my luck with standardized tests, I probably will have to take it again :( Anyway, this weekend if going to be another one where I can't sleep in. I have to work the Teacher's College Dean's List reception, instead of attending my own (not like I want to go to either one way or another). Than Sunday I have to get up early again to work at the nursery. I was thinking I might be able to sleep in the weekend after this coming weekend, but I am going to Lindsey's birthday party (we are going to party it up on the B-Rip strip until the clubs kick us out) and I will probably have three hours of sleep before I have to wake up and work at the nursery again! On the school level, classes are going great. I have three "real" classes this semester in addition to my 6 credit hour Practicum. I must say that the Practicum has been an awesome experience for me, and I am getting to the point where I am really comfortable teaching the students and just being in the classroom. Although it is tedious at times doing the work in order to make successful lessons, I think it will be a lot harder next semester when I am doing my student teaching in Indy! Well that is enough of an update. Ciao! | | |
| With summer winding down, I thought I would highlight some of the best parts of my summer: 1. My COMM 330 class....with our presentations as the Golden Girls, and our evil Villian idea: with me as Michael Jackson! (yes summer school was actually part of my summer) 2. Pool fun with Lindsay and Lindsey, and playing follow the leader while the entire apartment complex was at the Tom Petty concert:) 3. My 21st birthday with Lauren, Lindsey, Monica, Stuart etc....seeing Michael Jordan and going to Vogue and Seven. 4. Getting my new liscense 5. Cheeseburger in Paradise as a continuation of my birthday. 6. Weekend movie fest with "You, me and Dupree" and "Pirates 2" 7. Dancing in the rain with Lindsey...can't wait to get those pictures developed! 8. Last night out with the roomies, and getting butt drunk on Puerta's margaritas. 9. Lindsey's move out day :( 10. Moving into la new apartment. Wasn't the best day, but at least it began a new beginning. 12. DaVinci Code with Erin 13. Dollar Scoop Night at Baskin Robbins (yum!) 14. Midnight swimming and Suana action 15. "Fun" party with Anna 16. Family Reunion with Josh 17. Spending the day with Jessica after her surgery 18. Getting two new jobs:) Maybe next semester I won't be in as much financial burden as I have been. 19. Reading DaVinci Code, We Thought You Would be Prettier, and Deception Point. I love having leisure reading time:) 20. Passions.....the story line now is hot! 21. Penny Board Game Night....It's on next time we bring the pennies out. 22. Mastering Sonic the Hedgehog 23. Canoeing at Lake Summit 24. Erin and Carlos's visit :) 25. The Zoo for the Meerkat exhibit opening with Jessie and the kids 26. Although it has not happened yet....The Red's Game and Jungle Jims (so excited)
Well that is all I can remember, and although it saddens me a little to know that I didn't quite make it up to Chicago, Virginia or Wisconsin this year, and my summer has been without a trip to a theme park...I think I will manage! There is always next summer....when a trip to Italy is a must, a theme park episode will happen, and it will be my last hurrah before entering the "real world". Enjoy your last days of summer!

| So I saw the DaVinci Code yesterday and I must say that the book is much better. I think part of the reason why I did not enjoy the movie as much as I thought I would was: 1. Because Tom Hanks was cast as Robert Langdon. I'm not a huge fan of his and he is not the most convincing person for the role. However, I do believe he did a better job than some of his other movies, I think another actor would have fit the part better. Maybe Johnny Depp, because he is more versitale and he just looks as if he is more intelligent. 2. The albino Silas did not have red eyes, instead he had blue. This is not a huge deal, except the fact that his red eyes were emphasized in the book. 3. Most of the characters did not seem like they would be the characters that Dan Brown wrote about. 4. The brother did not exist in the movie 5. The big secret of Sophie's grandfather was a a bit different and overlooked. 6. One clue was missing
However there were also good things about the movie, such as: 1. Sophie Neveu, Silas, and Teabings castings were flawless 2. The artistic direction in the film when they are entering one of the cathedrals is amazing. 3. It stayed pretty consistant with the book 4. One idea about the ending was good (don't want to give it away for those of you who haven't seen it) 5. The last seen of the movie is exactly how I pictured it would be while reading the book, flawless!
Overall I believe that if this book was not my favorite book of all time, I would have liked the movie more! But don't get me wrong, there have been books that are made into movies that are amazing. Such as Narnia and I personally believe that the Lord of The Rings Trilogy was far better than the books, because of the fact that there was more immediacy with the search for the ring, instead of taking a seven year voyage. | | |
